Hello. My cat Mickey has been on a hills k/d diet for early signs of kidney disease for a year.?Now his back legs are weak. We had a blood test done and all is normal except calcium his high. The vet thinks its cancer, actually she set on it being cancer. X-rays show no tumors, but bowels seem a little enlarged, he still has a healthy appetite and drinks plenty of water. Also he is currently being treated for a sinus infection. Should I get another test done and a second opinion. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would get a second opinion. It cant hurt!
Good Luck

Get a second opinion if you like by all means, that's your prerogative if you're not 100% happy. Certainly can't hurt. Managing kidney failure for a year is good stuff.

Often when cats have kidney issues, their bodies get depleted of potassium, and that can cause weakness and/or a wobbling gait. If that's what it is, it's easily fixable with a supplement. I'd really go for a second opinion, as it sounds like your vet has her mind made up and isn't going to go about exploring other options, and that certainly won't help your cat. One of the primary signs of cancer, of course, is unexplained weight loss, and if you're not seeing that, I'd be hesitant to accept that diagnosis without a second opinion. Good luck!
