Birth control options for a 15 year old with degenerative kidney condition?

Birth control options for a 15 year old with degenerative kidney condition?First of all, I know that because of my age I'll get "ABSTINENCE" replies. Thank you for your concern, but I won't be practicing abstinence. I don't see the problem in underage sex, as long as methods are used to prevent pregnancy and diseases. Which is why I'm asking this question...

I had a pregnancy scare, which has claimed my trust in condom use alone without a backup. I'd really like to get on some form of birth control, but I'm not sure what I can use with my kidney problem. It's not kidney disease, but a problem where my one kidney doesn't function very well. I think some of the birth control pills could hurt that condition.

From the research I've done on all forms of birth control, pills seem to the the preferable method.

So does anybody know if there is pills that can be used in conjuction with my kidney condition?
I would still use condoms, of course, along with a birth control method.

I was looking into Nuvaring, and it seemed perfect. However, I found a site with 171 reviews, and 165 of the people there absolutely hated it and discontinued use.

I don't know where I'd "discuss my options" with a healthcare provider...

Oh, and my mom is fully aware of me being sexually active and looking for a birth control method, by the way.

Maybe you can do some online research...I think (but I'm not certain) that sex hormones are primarily processed by the liver, rather than the kidneys. Good luck...

why not just ask you doctor, like an obgyn or pediatrician. they have degrees for that stuff. also, ask a pharmacist, they actually should know all about the effects and whys and hows.

If you are going to go on the pill you need to have it prescribed by a doctor. They need to check your general health, blood pressure etc etc. The doctor will know what is compatible with your condition. Pharmacists can also help. You can talk to your regular general practitioner or go to a sexual health clinic or teen health service. If your mom is on board with all of this she could tell you who to see.

It is good you are being proactive about birth control and looking after your health. And I agree, condoms are fantastic and everyone should use them but there is a reasonable failure rate - well, enough to be worried at 15! So a backup is a good idea. Unfortunately there still aren't many options for women...someone needs to come up with some better ideas...and some more birth control options for men!

Will you still be able to use birth control pills, patches, or implants, after you have a kidney transplant? You're underage and immature; it appears that your brain hasn't caught up with the size of your body. If you don't take your health into consideration NOW, God only knows what will happen if you end up pregnant.
