Fevers, seizures, high phosphorus levels in baby?My niece just turned 1 in October. She has been running a fever for several days and has been having petit mal seizures. She has been in and out of the hospital for the past few days. The doctors also found that she has very high phosphorus levels, which they say they have never seen in a baby. I googled high phosphorus levels and I see a lot of about kidney disease or kidney failure. Is anyone able to find any articles regarding high phosphorus levels in babies? I can't find a thing because everything I read pertains to adults as this is rarely seen in babies. Or does anyone have any ideas perhaps what could be wrong with her? Could she really have kidney failure this young and it could cause seizures and fevers? Thanks for any ideas or advice. The doctors are very confused and do not know what to do right now except run tests. I know there aren't doctors on here but thought there might be someone who has experienced this with a baby or might know more about medical stuff than I do.
BTW, my niece was born almost 2 months premature. She has always had feeding issues and can only drink a certain type of formula. She is also extremely behind for her age, although I think that is common in premature babies. I know her mom didn't take very good care of herself during the pregnancy either. Thanks again!
How do I add you??
