How does a damaged kidney result in high blood pressure?
The kidney was damaged in an accident. No one suspected that any serious injury had occurred until the patient developed high blood pressure. The doc said the HBP is caused by the kidney damage.

Hypertension can cause renal damage and kidney disease can cause secondary hypertension.
It involves complicated mechanisms. With renal damage there's an activation of the renin-angiotensin system, endothelin and vasoactive prostaglandins. With renal damage there may be impaired sodium excretion and higher arterial pressure is needed to maintain sodium balance.

well it is the other way around. High blood pressure causes kidney damage by restricting blood flow to the kidneys which then damages them.

The nephrotic syndrome is a term that refers to any kidney disorder that results in urinary protein loss. People with the nephrotic syndrome frequently have elevated levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL, or the 'bad cholesterol"), very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), and hte more damaging LDL varient known as lipoproteins. Furtehrmore, risk of blood clotting is higher due to urinary losses of proteins that inhibit blood clotting and elevated levels of plasma proteins that favor clotting. These factors raise the risks of developing heart disease and stroke.

There are a lot of mechanisms by which a "damaged kidney" can lead to high blood pressure. If I understand you correctly, the high blood pressure is thought to be related to an injury to the kidney. This could lead to high blood pressure by scar tissue interfering with bloof supply to a part of, or an entire kidney. Its usually treatable with relatively simple medications.
