It depends on what type of kidney disease, but with type 1 diabetes, probably not much less than any other 21 year old girl. (My neighbors' daughter is about 53, with type 1, and about as healthy as anyone her age.) Diabetes can't (yet) be cured, but it can be managed pretty well. You just have to be a fanatic about it.
