My 4 month old puppy was just diagnosed with Kidney Failure, what do I do?He's an American Bulldog and is only 4 months old, he's shown symptoms ever since we got him, but never realized it until yesterday when we got the diagnosis, his Creatinine is 7.5 and his BUN is 194. He has been on IV fluids for 24 hrs and when retested this am his above values were higher. The Vet says he's not optimistic. This is my baby, what should I do?

Call your breeder and let them know.. Get a 2nd opinion from another vet or get your vet to send you to a specialist.

First I'm sorry to hear about your dog and second if you haven't already I would get a second opinion! I am pretty sure there is something that can be done about it! Go for a second opinion and see what that vet tells you. You can even take your dog to a animal hospital!

The most humane thing to do is to have the vet put him down. Then I would sue the individual you bought this sick puppy from. They will be held responsible for any and all bills relating to his illness and you will get your money back for the purchase. I would also contact my local SPCA and report the condition of this puppy, they may have disgusting conditions that these dogs are being bred in, if so, their dog breeding operation should be shut down by the authorities.

If you got him from a reputable breeder then they should take the puppy back & refund you $ $ . I know this is harsh but what would you rather do, watch you pup get sicker & spend alot of $ to get him well, that is if he can be helped, and die a slow & painful death..Sorry for the very hard decision you have to make.

Well for one, don't feed him dry food, as that can give them UTI, just feed him canned food. It is alot healthier, anyways.
