Kidney Disease: Is Wegener's Disease diagnosis a fatal thing?

Is Wegener's Disease diagnosis a fatal thing? My father's 66 year old fiance just got out of ICU - near death twice due to lung problems and kidney problems. Doctors now have diagnosis of Wegener's disease. she is being treated with steriods and some other drugs part of the regime for this disease - she is very weak and it is touch and go.

She will probably be on medication for about a year. This can be put into remission. Relapse is extremely difficult, and hard to bounce back from. People can live with this now. Back in the 70's, not much was known, most people died from this.
Her outlook is better today than back then. Make sure she takes her meds and follows orders.

Try looking up information on the internet, there are tons of info.
