You need to talk to your doctor. I am sure that he or she can give you a list of alternative medications for your kidney disorder.

well, when it comes to the health of your kidneys I suggest you do some research and study on the function of the kidneys. I know that kidneys filter out waste and impurities from the blood, so you may first need to start cleaning out your blood through elimination of certain foods and implementation of good foods.
Omit foods such as: chicken, pork, beef. small amounts of wild caught fish are okay but when cleansing I would suggest not.
omit: refined grains, add whole grains such as brown rice.
omit: refined sugars: brown, white, raw and corn syrup and artificial sweeteners such as aspartame.
omit: refined soybean, canola and corn oil from your diet, these foods are mostly genetically engineered and highly refined which taint your blood and arteries. Add oils such as unrefined olive oil, coconut oil. These are healthy. do some research.
shop at your local natural food cooperatives and natural food stores.

add: Organic fresh fruits and vegetables
Add whole grains such as millet, brown rice, quinoa.
for milk purchase rice milk or almond milk.
omit dairy products which are bad for your blood at this point in this condition. do some research on milk and milk products to ask whether milk is truly necessary for human consumption. See homogenization and pasturization.

- purchase a juicer: Acme brand is one I reccomend. Start to juice fresh vegetables in the morning for breakfast instead of the normal meals. juice carrots, collards, celery and any other vegetable you can think of.

relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle.
some websites with information: garynull.com
amazon.com: search for some books on juicing and alternative health.

My husband is minus 1 kidney due to cancer. We are very protective of his good kidney. We don't us any alternative remedies to keep it healthy necessarily, but we do use an alternative lifestyle which includes NO prescription medications and only 2 OTC meds if necessary - aspirin and Robitussin PE. Of those two, the Robitussin is something he has had maybe once in 25 years since his kidney was removed. Definitely no Tylenol or acetaminophen products.

Our goal is to keep his kidney from becoming overworked. Medicines are the enemy of the kidney, as it is part of the cleansing system that must deal with it. Those medicines are supposed to treat the body's symptoms, but are also very hard on liver and kidneys. Also, sugar, artificial ANYTHING (colors, flavors, etc.), pesticides and chemicals stress the kidneys, so we avoid them.

We eat organic when possible and stay away from the more pesticide'd foods when not possible to get organic. We've found Arnica gel to be a great muscle pain reliever. Lots of water helps keep the kidney from having to overwork in an under resourced environment. He keeps a jug of water with him and goes through at least 32 oz a day just while at work, usually more. Cranberry juice is great for kidney health. We buy 100% and mix it with 100% grape juice. Watch your juice labels and get 100% as many contain unnecessary sugars, even high fructose corn syrup - a big bad no no.

As far as treatment of a current kidney disease, it would be good to know exactly what symptoms and disease name you have to be more specific. What I've outlined above are a few ways you can keep from adding stress to the kidneys. To treat a diseased kidney it would be good to be more specific to what is happening to you specifically.

Our method of keeping our kidneys healthy for his sake has been a work in progress, so I have no all inclusive link. We just implement new lifestyle changes when we find them. I'm sure that there is probably a good web page to reference if you do a "kidney health" search.

A naturopathic doctor would be able to give you loads of good information and suggestions. It might be worth checking in with one. Many will work with your medical doctor if you want. We have only used a naturopath for our health needs for the last 20 years, and are very happy with the results.

Best to you.
