Why is Sodium Bicarbonate routinely given to rhabdomyolysis patients in acute renal failure?I have yet to have explained to me the pharmacologic/pathophysiologic rationale behind giving sodium bicarbonate to those with rhabdomyolysis in anuric ARF without hyperkalemia present.
