What are the best ways to reduce blood pressure after a surgey (kidney transplant)? The person I know is still having above average blood pressure after kidney transplant and is taking medicines for high blood pressure(BP).
I heard that this high BP can cause the kidney failure.
So could you tell me the ways to reduce the high BP.

Bed rest and whatever medications for elevated BP that the doctors are prescribing. Also, drinking clear fluids can be helpful to rid the body of extra salt.
The doctors may try different medications to find the one that works the best for your friend. Don't be afraid to ask a doctor or nurse what's going on if you're close to the patient.
I wish you friend the very best. It takes time for the body to accept a transplant. Also, the medications to prevent rejection can elevate blood pressure.
Give him/her time to adjust and wishing your friend a lifetime of good health.

Things we can do...
* stop smoking * lose weight * exercise regularly
* cut down on alcohol * eat a varied diet include lots of fruit and vegetables. No added salt.
* reduce stress by trying different relaxation techniques, or by avoiding stressful situations.
Post transplant most of this would have been advised anyhow. After these simple steps the rest is down to the patient's doctors to prescribe the necessary anti hypertensive drugs.
