polycystic ovarian syndrome?I have been having a problem with ovarian cysts for years I had a very hard time getting pregnant with my second child because of this. I now have another cyst (2nd one in the last 2 months) went to my gyno she did a internal and she could feel the cyst and says its about 5cm. I for some reason don't get the small ones I get huge ones my last one was 8cm I have never had one less than 5cm. I asked about PCOS because my sister and some other family members have it and more than likely that's what she says i have. My question is I have had a hysterectomy about 7 yrs ago so that wont help with the pcos but is there something i can do? I can't use birth control because of high bp and kidney disease what are my options? I'm in so much pain today i'm literally crying there must be something i can do. I'm having troubles losing weight, bp is high again, I have hair in places i don't want it I need some answers...I am going back to my doc on tuesday to go over some options but for now any info oh others experience or what to do would be appreciated..Thank you

You need to eat a strict diabetic's diet and get on metformin if possible.

I have pcos too. I am watching the amount of sugar and carbohydrates I consume and I am taking Yaz birth control. I know you cannot take birth control, but If you can get healthy I recommend it. I read the books "A Patient's guide to PCOS", "The PCOS Protection Plan", and "The Insulin Resistance Diet". Most women with pcos have insulin resistance so I bought that one too. They really helped me to understand more about what I have. They go over food that is good for us and foods we should avoid as well as exercise and life style changes we should make to improve our health. Cardio is the best for pcos. I walk and jog on a treadmill. I know losing weight is hard, but the books say if you lose 10% of your total body weight you can make serious improvements. So, if you weigh 150 pounds 15 pounds is a 10% loss. Metformin is good from what I hear. I have not taken it, so I cannot give you a personal story. Spearmint tea acts as an anti-androgen and has helped lots of women clear up acne and mild hirsutism (excess hair). I hate the way it tastes so I had to stop drinking it. Go see that doctor and discuss all your options. I know it hard, but you can improve your health!
