Kidney Disease: What would you suggest to get rid of Kidney Stones ? Chronic stones that are calcium/uric acid.?

What would you suggest to get rid of Kidney Stones ? Chronic stones that are calcium/uric acid.?My husband has kidney stones chronically ( atleast 2-5 amonth ) for the last year or so. He is on Morphine for the pain so I worry about addiction and damage he will have to his body for taking it for so long. What non medical options do we have ? What worked for you ?

drink lots of water and don't dehydrate, uric acid crystalizes when you dehydrate and everything sticks to it. so drink lots of beverages. I had to have one removed with lythotripsy it was pretty big. I quit dehydrating and they have for the most part quit. every year or 2 I get a small one that usually passes.

There is an Amazonian herb called Chanca Piedra that will break up stones in the gallbladder and the kidneys.

I feel very bad for your husband - I've had kidney stones too and they're just hellish. But, I haven't had any for a long time. I think the best answers are to avoid a lot of calcium in the diet and drink water endlessly.

When I had them, my doctor told me to drink 1 glass (8 oz, 1 cup, or 10 large swallows) of water every 1.5 hours, round the clock if you can. It's easier if it's not real cold.

I had kidney stones when I was 9 yrs. old, now I'm 20, I was going to undergo lithotripsy which was state of the art back then, they might have new technology for getting rid of kidney stones...Anyway, I do highly recommend to take your meds as prescribed. One thing that really helped the stones dissolve is drinking a lot of cranberry juice. Another suggestion would be to cut back on your intake of red meat and soda/coffee (caffeine). In the end, I didn't even need surgery. they haven't recurred.
