Is it okay to move my sick cat to a new place for 1 week? Will it be too much for him?

Is it okay to move my sick cat to a new place for 1 week? Will it be too much for him?My cat is in the late stages of chronic renal failure. I live in an apartment with my boyfriend who's going away for a week. My parents suggested that my cat and I stay at their house for a week; they can help me take care of my cat and help me administer sub-q fluids. My cat has never seen their house before. Will it be too much of a shock for him to move from an apartment to a house for a week? Will he get homesick?

His condition: weak, not eating a lot, but still enjoys sitting in my lap, cuddling, and sitting outside.

if he is really bonded with you he would probably do fine after some adjusting. if you were to leave him alone, I would say he would suffer. keep him in the room you will be staying in and give him lots of love and attention. has he met your parents? if he remembers them the strangness of the home might not be that bad. you just need to keep an eye on him and see how the move affects him. also because of the time, 1 week, if you can do the fluids yourself, it may be best just to say in your apartment, but if you need help, i guess you would have no choice but to go to your parents. but they could come over to help right?

Let your baby have the peace and comfort of his own home. In his condition, stress is the last thing he needs. He deserves to be home, and to have you with him. If you need help caring for him then your parents can stop by and help, or one or both of them can stay with you for the week. It's only a week, so you can probably go it alone if you have to. If you had no choice but to move it would be different, but you have a choice in this case. Please don't remove him from his home.

It might be too stressful for your cat to go to another place. I understand your reasons, but cat's tend to be creatures of habit and like to remain in the places they know best. If you do decide to take him, I would make him as comfortable as possible and maybe even put him in his own quiet room where he could have peace and quiet.

If you're there and giving him a lot of attention, it would be ok. Far better than him being at the vets in a kennel cage for a week.
