How long can you live after kidney failure if you recieve no treatment? My grandmother is 87 years old she recently had kidney failure, but refused treatment they told her she would only have 2 days to live it's now been 3 weeks! I am just wondering how long can she live like this?

She can die any day. If you have no kidney function what so ever, the toxins are just building in the body. There is no filtration. Convince her to go into treatment! ... but it's at the point where even if she does... it might not save her now.

length of her life span depends on the the intensity of her condition. is both kidneys failed or, atleast one is functioning normally? she may not have a longer life if she denies treatment.

its really independent to the person.......estimates given to people on time of life left is never set in stone.........if her body is not getting rid of toxins then her blood is pretty much going to become full of toxins which can not support cellular function.......also some people live a while w/chronic liver failure and people can overcome bouts of acute liver failure......it can be harder for the elderly tho.....

Depending on the true kidney function, diet, and fluid intake the general answer is 10 to 30 days. Did they tell you:
BUN
Creatinine
Potassium
Sodium
Phosphorous
Albumin
How long has she been followed?
You can actually live with the right diet for years on 10% kidney function.
Get in as much quality time with her now, while you can.
God Bless you both.

it all depends on her body. the doctor's may have told her she has only two day's to live but she is still here. it may not be time for her calling.
