once a kidney stone is formed, it remains there unless and until u do something to break it. ur diet may help u to break it or at least does not allow the stone to become bigger.

You have an emergency if it is completely blocked. Besides, at that point, your pain will be severe you wouldn't want to wait anyway.
The decision depends on size of the stone, exact location of the stone, and severity of inflammation in your kidney.
