Granted... stem cell treatment is very new to medical technology so not much is known about it. From my understanding though stems cells in a way can be "programmed" to do certain things. So for example you have kidney disease which means those particular kidney stem cells are damaged or broken. So they can either kill off the stem cells and replace them with new healthy ones from donor cells or they "program" stem cells which they inject into you that are set to repair and fix all the damage in the kidney without killing the rest of your stem cells. Since your talking about a transplantation though it's most likely the one where they kill off your stem cells and then replace them.
