Blood work came with back with high white blood cell count.?

Blood work came with back with high white blood cell count.?I recently had some blood work done and my results came back in the mail, which i don't think its that serious if they sent it by mail. but my white blood cell count was high they didn't indicate how high. The vitamin D was low of course cuz i live in WA. State. I have fibromyalgia, asthma, mild scoliosis and polycycstic kidney disease. I have been feel not so good lately as in weak, shaky and very nauseated. I dont feel like eating not really thirsty either just a little. What could this be? Could it be an under active thyroid? Could it be something more serious like leukemia? I go back in a week to my dr.

A high white blood cell count usually indicates the presence of an infection. With your condition, you may be susceptible to infection more than other individuals are. I wouldn't link it to an underactive thyroid, but then again I'm not a physician. Leukemia is possible. White blood cells become high in count when they are dividing frequently. This usually occurs in the presence of an infection (since they are trying to fight it off) or in the presence of uncontrolled growth (leukemia). I certainly hope it is not the latter. Definitely talk with your physician about these problems.

Also, you may want to consider re-posting your question in the "Medicine" forum of Yahoo. There's some real physicians in there who may be able to give you a much better answer. Here in "Biology," we mainly stick to all the biological stuff outside of medicine.

Good luck to you.
