Kidney stones and kidney disease?I am a 17 yr old female. I was diagnosed with a 3mm kidney stone a few months ago. Friday I woke up with really bad back pains and vommiting my mom brought me to the er and they took a urine test and said I had blood in my urine and they gave me lortabs and a pee strainer and told me to make an appointment with my urologist. So that Monday I met with my urologist and she took a cat scan and said my kidney stone was no longer in my kidney so I'm probably trying to pass it and if I don't pass it by my next appointment which is tomorrow I might have to have surgery. But I've noticed I've been extremely tired and my skin has been quite itchy. I remember those are symptoms of kidney disease. I'm only 17 though. Could the tiredness just be because of the lortabs? I'm scared to say anythng to my mom about kidney disease because shed just say I'm being a hypocondriac. So is this serious I'm kinda scared. Please help me!

I know you are scared, my kidney stones started when I was about your age and I am 30 now, I have had over 20 stones. Most I passed on my own but alot had to involve surgery. The surgery isn't very bad but you will be uncomfortable for a few days after words. You are correct about itchy skin being one sign of kidney disease but you mentioned that you are taking Lortabs(hydrocodone) the one of the main side effects of that pain med is itchy skin, and tiredness it does it to me everytime I have to take them. So I would not worry about kidney disease I am pretty sure that it's just the side effect of the pain meds. I hope this has helped you. I am sorry you are going through this I understand how painfully miserable it can be and I know how scary it can be as well. I wish the best for you and a quick recovery. Take care.
