kidney infection question?

kidney infection question?I went to the doctor and I had white blood cells in my urine. They did a culture on it and said it was bacterial. And they put me on antibotics and said it was a kidney infection. I'm however, worried that its something much worse.Maybe a certain disease or kidney failure, or kidney stones,or etc.

Anyways I took one antibotic, and that was yesterday ( your suppose to take two a day)..i have a pill phobia a soon as i think im sick from a pill i stop taking it.. well i woke up today sick at my stomach and not hungry i feel like im stuffed.so i decided not to take my other pill .however, before i took the pill a few days before that i was always sick, and not really eating that much.

I went to the doctor for nausea, no appetie, headace, and now im having side pain

could it be something worse ?
and if i dont take the antibotics right can it get worse?
and cant it heal on its own?
and how do doctors know its a kidney infection and not something worse?
wow i realized all my spelling mistakes maybe i should worry about that!! haha

In order to NOT get an upset stomach, you really should take the antibiotics with food. If you're having pain in your side now, it could be a kidney stone. I would not become over-anxious about there being anything worse going on. Drink lots of water or cranberry juice, and if you keep having the pain in your side in a couple days I would see the doctor again. And, yes, do finish your antibiotics WITH FOOD.

The pain in your side suggests the kidney is now really infected, that's what it means. You should have followed the directions on the prescription and taken the antibiotics- and by now you would probably feel a lot better. The trouble you have with the stomach, the nausea, headache, etc- is because you have an infection getting out of control now. Your kidneys filter waste material from your blood, and an infection slows down that process. The worse the infection gets, the less that kidney functions. As a result, the waste material that should be removed floats through your entire body in a higher concentration than it should. The upshot is you feel sick all over. If you don't take the antibiotics, yes- it will get worse. Eventually that kidney can and will fail entirely. It's not going to heal and go away magically on it's own. You can drink more fluid and take the antibiotics, and that will help it go faster. The doctors know it's a kidney infection because they actually grew out the gerbie responsible for it- that's what a culture is. They know it's not a stone because if it were, you'd be curled up hollaring, passing a lot of red blood in your urine, running fever, and having problems going to the bathroom. And you sitting around dreaming up worse case scenarios, and still not taking the antibiotics isn't helping matters at all. Go take your medicine, as it was prescribed. Continue to take it as directed until it's all gone. Meantime, drink until your molars float and you are having to go to the bathroom at least every 3-4 hours or more. After about 3 days of regular antibiotics, you should feel a lot better. If you decide not to take them, in about that same amount of time, you will be so sick you will need to be in the hospital getting a lot more stuff stuck in you that you care to dream about. Either you trust the doctor or you don't. Either you take the medicine or you don't. I wouldn't count on nature to do the healing, though, if you don't. I really suggest you take your medicine.
