Kidney Disease: How can you tell if a charity is reputable?

How can you tell if a charity is reputable?I want to make a donation to one who deals with research for Kidney disease. I see "The American Kidney Foundation" and "The National Kidney Foundation" is one better than the other? Are they both reputable?

Find out which one puts more to the actual cause. 80% is the bottom limit. You don't want your donation going to excessive "administration" fees.

Try www.give.org, it's run by the better business bureau and can give you information on the charities statistics.

You can check with the better business bureau (www.bbb.org)
the Better Business Bureau (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Business_Bureau)

Its report for national kidney foundation:

as this is the uk site, i assume you are in the uk so wouldn't the national one be more appropriate?
Always check they are a registered charity and do your research, especially if it is a sizeable donation.
