Drinking while pregnant?I am 2 months pregnant and am trying to get healthy during this pregnancy. I have polycystic kidney disease and all I ever drink is soda pop. This is making my condition worse. So I have decided to switch to water, even though I hate it and it plain water makes me gag every time. So I have started using Crystal Light when I drink water. But now I am concerned that might not be safe for an unborn growing baby. It contains phenylalanine and I know that is a cancer causing agent. I just want to know if that is not good for my unborn. Doesn't seem like it would be good. I have been drinking about a liter a day of water with the mix. Is that enough to do anything bad to my baby?

It's nothing to worry about unless you're drinking beer. In order for it to be causing cancer, you'd need to drink insane amounts of it. I'd also rather have an EXTREMELY small chance of doing something bad to my baby then to worsen my kidney disease in a way that would affect both the baby and myself very negatively.

You stated that it has a cancer causing agent and yet you wonder if it is safe for your baby. Better to be safe than sorry.

LOOK IT UP ON GOOGLE AND SEE WHAT IT SAYS. OR TRY COUNTRY TIME LEMONADE INSTEAD. OR TEA. OR SOMETHING ELSE that mixes well with water. make sure the water is very cold

i know how u feel but my pregnancy i couldnt drink nothing and barely a sip of water the crystal light is fine for you. but you should ask your ob doctor about what is good for you to drink its a different answer for every one. but all i was told by the doc was to drink lots of water. dont drink lemonaid it can make you vomit and sick cause of the citrus. that's what i craved for and got sickness all day long went to doc and they said it was drinking citrus.
