After a successful kidney transplant, would you still have kidney disease?I lost a kidney to diabetic kidney disease. I had a sucessfull transplant. Am I still suffering from kidney disease with the new kidney? My doctor could not answer this to my satisfaction.

That is a tricky question.
I would say that no, you don't have kidney disease, but you are being treated for any side effects you may have had from your previous diseased kidneys and the diabetes. Also, you are being treated for maintenance of the transplant kidney, such as any rejection episodes or side effects of the medication on your kidney.
I had a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2005 after years with Type 1.
