Will my cat go blind from conjunctivitis; I can't see the vet till Monday? Will an eyewash help for now?My cat is very sick, has chronic renal failure and had an enema last night. It was very stressful and he started developing a white film in his eyes. The vet said it was probably conjunctivitis but because of everything going on they forgot to prescribe me the medication.
I can't get any meds from the emergency pets open this weekend because they want me to take him in, but he's in the end stages and I don't want to put him through another traumatic visit.
Is it okay that he lives with the conjunctivitis till Monday morning when I can go to my vet to get the eyedrops? He got it last night. Tonight it's yellowish and gunky.
Petco suggested that I get their vetinary grade kitty eyewash; it may alleviate some of the symptoms - will it do anything for him?
Also is okay to gently wipe the gunk from his eye with a kitty wash cloth?

Your cat will be fine until you get your cat to the Vet on Monday. Just gently wash the gunk away with a moist cloth. You've got enough to fret about, but this isn't one that you need to worry about. The vet will probably give you a topical treatment that will help clear it up fast.
Hope your kitty does well.

your cat will not go blind from conjuctivitus. you shouldnt wipe it away or use eyewash. you need to take him to the vets and let them deal with it. keep an eye on your cat and try to make sure it doesnt scratch or touch it with its paw as much as possible as this could irritate it and make it much worse

My girl cat has herpes in her eyes, she acquired it from her mother when she passed through the birth canal. The pus shows up from time to time, and it nearly always shows up when she has been stressed. The ointment they gave me doesn't really help, and I do wipe her eyes. It makes her feel and look better. My veterinary opthamologist also told me to break a 500mg L-Lysine tablet up and put it in her food twice a day during outbreaks, and that does seem to help. You can get it a the drugstore..
