What's the worst that could happen if a kidney disease/infection isn't treated?I suspect I have something wrong with my kidneys. I have multiple symptoms, including back pain, abdominal pain, and now blood in my urine.
I really hate going to the doctors office, and causes me to have panic attacks. Will I be ok if I don't see anyone about this?

The worst that could happen is septic shock from the infection spreading to your blood stream, and therefore causing a painful death if still left untreated. I think I'd risk a panic attack - look up sepsis and you'll agree.

It could cause kidney failure and death. You do have something wrong with your kidneys with all of those symptoms. It is probably a UTI or kidney stones, but either way it really needs to be treated by a doctor before it gets any worse. You need to see a doctor ASAP.

-Acute Renal Failure (Kidneys just say "hey screw you!" and stop working)
-Septicaemia (Blood Poisoning)
Those are two which come to mind.... both quite fatal indeed

Sepsis, followed by enough IV antibiotics in a hospital setting to float the Titanic, followed by renal failure, dialysis, total renal failure, death. I think that's the order I watched my spouse die in over an 8 month period of misery and pain. (Oh, yeah, the sepsis caused such a high fever he had brain damage from it. He was never the same.)
Suggestion: Instead of the doctor's office, go to a hospital emergency room around 4:00 a.m. when they are not busy. They can do a full work up, and you don't have to wait. You need the medical attention, dear heart, so take deep breaths and put that anxiety in its place.
