What can I feed my dog when the vet says he has kidney disease? My 15 year old lab-spaniel mix dog has been diagnosed with kidney disease. The vet recommended KD dog food, but he doesn't like it, and has basically been starving himself & not eating it. The vet said low to no protein diet. What else can I feed him that he will eat that's good for him?

Call your vet. Tell your vet that your dog is starving himself and not eating the KD. Your vet can tell you what to do.
This is a serious question and you need a serious, professional answer from your VET, not here.

Call the vet and ask. I'm sure he/she would tell you! The call is free!!

The KD is 14% protein. I don't think there is a dog food on the market that is quite that low. You might want to consult your vet. I know Natural Balance has a light formula that is 16% protein. Ask your vet what the minimum protein percentage is.
