You should talk to your doctor about taking Omega 3 fish oils. They help a lot with heart issues, but you need to make sure it's safe first. Also, drink a lot of water and stay away from sugar and bad fatty foods. Eat a lot of fruits and veggies when you can.
The most important thing you can do right now is exercise regularly. Keep it light, like power walking and weights. Yoga is a very good way to lessen blood pressure as it relaxes your body.
Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake, and stay away from cigarettes.
I hope this helps. Talk to your doctor about more ways to deal with this other than medication.

You have got stage 3 hypertension. You should be hospitalized for bringing down your hypertension.
Check the function of your kidney (for microalbuminura, creatinine, blood urea nitrogen), heart (for left ventricular enlargement/hypertrophy), and retina (for hypertensive retinopathy).
Adopt DASH diet

Hello,
This is not an easy question to answer, because there are so many things that might be causing your high blood pressure. The kidneys, prostate, spinal injury, effects of surgery, family history, effect of medicines, - - any of these could have something to do with it.
Anyone sensible would need full details of all of the above, before feeling themselves in any sort of position to comment helpfully.
It does strike me that it might be your anti-depressant medication, that is if you are taking a "combination" drug like Seroxat ?
I think your fears of a stroke or heart attack, are well founded. In my opinion you should ask about taking tablets aimed *specifically* against those risks, - - I mean aspirin tablets and a Statin tablet daily. (Maybe you're on these already, I don't know.)
The other risk seems to be, that a high blood pressure might increase the rate of damage to your kidneys.
I also think you could have a pinched nerve in the neck, just as you say, - - your exact areas of numbness, suggest the 8th cervical (neck) nerve root on the left. A doctor would call this "C8" (pronounced seee - eight).
If you had been my patient, (before I retired), I would have sat you down for at least an hour just to talk things over with you. You give me the impression, that you have not had enough *discussion time.*
I hope this is of some help.
Best wishes,
