My mom wants to kill my cat on a dry cat food diet, she won't listen to me...?My cat is almost 11 years old and I don't want her to die prematurely of diabetes or kidney disease from the dried cat food. My mom feeds her Hill's Premium Cat food (the first ingredient is Brewers Rice - that should tell you how natural this is for a carnivore).
She says she'll continue to feed her this because all the vets told her it's fine and she'd rather listen to them than crazy internet people. She also says our cat doesn't like wet food and has rejected it (I know there are tricks to make the conversion easier - but mom doesn't want to hear about them).
What can I do? I want my cat to eat healthy canned food, and not premium Hill's veterinary approved poisonous cat food.

Your cat will be fine.

Buy your own cat food! Otherwise don't be picky. If the vet says it fine, what credentials do you or the crazy internet people have. The cat is not complaining.

Well if the vet says the dry food is okay, I would try not to worry about it as long as your cat is still eating well. If her teeth become a problem as she gets older then you might have to switch. The cat I used to have got kidney disease on wet food, but of course it's not all equal.
It's nice of you to want to take good care of your cat though. If you really feel that strongly about it maybe you can offer to contribute to the cost of the wet food and your mom will see how important this is to you and agree to give it a try.

Hill's Premium Cat food it just fine for your cat. Your mom is right and so is the vet. You should be giving your cat both dry and wet food. I feed my cats wellness dry and merrick canned.
