My Dog has 2 Plus Protein in his Urine! but tests came back OK, Why?

My Dog has 2 Plus Protein in his Urine! but tests came back OK, Why?My dog just had his annual check up. All his Tests came back Great accept his Urine, they found Protein in it. The vet gave me a ratio of 0 to 3 Plus . My dog's was a 2 Plus. One week has passed, they re-checked his Urine again to see and still came back as a 2Plus Protein, they did more tests on his Urine to see if Kidney disease was prescent and No signs of disease. So why still Portein in his Urine? My Vet told me it might be normal for him or possibly his stomach lining is sensitive or his Uretha is giving out dead cells???? His Blood Work was Perfect. She did not think I had to change his Food.

Coinsidence? Last 48 Hours My dog has very runnie stools refuses to eat his dry food (Never Has done) although today (2 Days Passed) he is eating the Rice and meat I am now preparing him. Still has Very Runnie Stools and is very slow and lathargic. This is a dog who would pull me up the street. I hope this is all a Coinsidence and the two systems are not related. Any Help?

Causes of Glomerular Proteinuria

There are a number of disorders associated with glomerular proteinuria including:

Immune-mediated disease (systemic lupus erythematosus)

Infectious diseases such as ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease and chronic bacterial infections

Diabetes mellitus

Pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's disease)

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Hereditary forms

Inflammatory (from circulating antigen-antibody complexes, heartworm disease)

Amyloidosis (the deposition of a body protein, amyloid A, the result of a chronic inflammatory process)
Clinical Signs

Clinical signs may be subtle until significant protein loss has occurred or may reflect the underlying disease

Most animals present with signs of anorexia (loss of appetite), vomiting, weight loss, depression and weakness

Dogs average age of onset is between 7-8 years

Familial forms have been recognized in : Doberman pinschers, Samoyeds, Rottweilers, greyhounds, beagles, Bernese mountain dogs, English cocker spaniels, bull terriers and soft-coated wheaton terriers

Familial Amyloidosis has been recognized in shar-peis

Home Care

Administer any medications prescribed by your veterinarian.

Observe your pet's overall attitude and appetite and watch for evidence of enlargement of the abdomen (ascites) or swelling (edema) of the paws, limbs or face that could indicate development of fluid accumulation from the low protein

Observe your pet for difficulty breathing or limb weakness that may indicate development of thromboembolism (blood clot). Also watch for increased water consumption and urination, vomiting, lethargy or loss of appetite

Schedule regular follow-up visits with your veterinarian.

Is he loosing weight? Did she check his blood sugar or was there sugar in his urine? If his sugar is high, it might be DM. With ketones and no sugar it still sounds like kidney failure. Could he have gotten any of the contaminated dog food earlier this year or last fall? I would go to a different vet if you see any other symptoms of kidney failure. They can't really do anything, but that is what it sounds like.
