Kidney Failure in Teenagers?Long story short I'm writing a book. One of my main characters is recovering from complete kidney failure in both kidneys. I need a plausible diagnosis for a 17 year old girl. My questions are.
1.What are Early, Mid & Late Symptoms of Kidney Failure:
2.What types of treatment along with a transplant would she go threw:
3.What types of medication would she be one:
4.How often would she see a doctor, What to look for:
5.What kind of scar or scars would she have and where (At kidney or what?):
6.How would this affect her life, Would she be able to have children or do sports:
7.How often or percentage of Kidney donor deaths/Possible complications:
8.How long would recovery take:
Anything & Everything you can give me is greatly appreciate.
Also I would love multiple diagnosis and outcomes. Thanks!!! =]

I had acute kidney failure (both kidneys) last December right before Christmas. I came very close to needing dialysis but began to recover when the nephrologist flushed my system with lots of IV fluids. I don't have answers to most of your questions but I'm 18 so I felt my personal story could be helpful.
To provide a bit of background, I was already in ICU on a ventilator for acute respiratory failure when my kidneys shut down. The doctors never figured out what was wrong and what caused me to get so sick. I have late stage Lyme Disease and their best guess was I had an intense flair that lead to my serious decline.
