Kidney Disease: CREATINE, is it bad for kidney/renal function?

CREATINE, is it bad for kidney/renal function?I have been told to start using creatine, but is it bad for any sort of kidney or renal function as i only have 1 kidney, bit odd but before i start using a man made enhancer i may as well know the ricks..

Some people get side effects from using creatine, such as interstitial nephritis (= inflammation of the interstitial space between the tubules.)
Personally I wouldn't take the risk knowing that you have 1 kidney. There's always a risk, but I don't know if the inflammation could cause death or anything.

So my advice is: ask a doctor about your medical condition and the effect creatine could have.

EDIT1: on wikipedia I found "studies have shown little or no adverse impact on kidney or liver function from oral creatine supplementation". But I still wouldn't be sure about this.

A more trustful source (a biomedical database: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15758854 and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15273072) also says nothing has been proven, I'd advise reading the abstract.

EDIT2: another source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20060630

I'm sorry I can't give you a clear answer about it, but little has been scientifically proven. Still suggest going to see a schooled doctor, or an expert in fitness supplements.
