cat with pyometra,do her future look bright?i will try to make it short
i fell inlove with a stray kitty 2 years ago (she was few months old) i took her to the same vet all her life ( it's so rare to find a vet clinic in my town)
well he is a stupid vet,he kept diagosing her with UTI for a whole year
llast night i really felt uncomfortable with his diagnosis and treatment plan
so in the morning i was sooooo lucky to find another vet(amazing btw) and took her to him although my cat was a little better from ex-vet injections
the new vet said my cat have pyometra (like many answerers here gussed last night) and she needs an emergency spaying
i agreed and was dead scared of losing her
the vet said the spaying went amazing but her womb was the hugest thing he saw
my cat had low temp (this morning with new vet)that could mean toxins were released(last night she had a high temp according to ex-vet and gave her injections)
the vet scared me ( to tell the truth i freaked out) that she may have kidney disease from the toxins and we should wait 2 days to know for sure, and if she does there is nothing we can do
i agreed to keep her with them for 2 nights,so they can give her IV fluids
i talked to the nurse around 3pm (after spaying) she said my cat looked comfortable and her face looked bright
and she is moving around and that she ate on her own
and just now i talked to the vet he said the same, she looks more comfortable
but it's too early to tell (it's night and the spaying was done in the morning)
i said if this mean if she have kidney disease he still said he can't tell
but he said a sentence i did not understand exactly what he means "it's as good as it gets" or something like that
the new vet is very clear and straight forward(great change)
but i want to knw from your esperience does she have a bright future or not ?? will she have only few months to live? ??
the only postive thing my vet said that she ate on her own and that's a good sign
but if she have toxins it will take 2 days to show in the blood
i know i'v learnt my lesson really hard
but i did ask my old vet to spay her few times he could at that time because "she had fever from her UTI"
and first i said to myself i don't want to get attached to this kitty i will just feed it poor thing does not have food
then i said it wont hurt if i play with it
then i said it won't hurt if i took her to the vet she does not look so well (last year her first "UTI" )
and the next thing i find myslef in this horrible postion

It means you deal with it on a day to day basis. The vet can't see the future anymore than anyone can.

If you'd SPAYED the thing immediately,it wouldn't be near death now, would it?
*&* cost you an arm & both legs in vet fees.
Did you LEARN anything from this?

Only your veterinarian can tell you what to expect. As I explained in an answer to a previous question concerning your cat, renal failure, if in the advanced stages, is untreatable. Depending on the individual cat (age, health, etc) life expectancy will vary.
I would advise you to wait until your vet can make a clear diagnosis of your cat after she recovers from the spaying surgery.
You did a good thing by adopting this stray - it sounds like you were a good companion to her. Whatever happens to her, it is not your fault for listening to your previous veterinarian - you have found out he is incompetent and have now found a vet capable of treating your cat, that is all that matters.
