How can you treat a Urinary Tract Infection? My Mom was in a lot of pain the other night, and we thought it was a Kidney Stone for a couple days. But, then she went to the doctor, and prescribed some medicines, got a massage, and had a cat scan. The results showed no stone(s). So, we think there is some chance of her having a Urinary Tract Infection/Kidney Infection. Thank you so much.

If it's a UTI, you would just need antibiotics, as it is an infection (caused by bacteria) they're very common and very easy to treat. See and OBGYN.

Antibiotics need to be prescribed for a UTI. She will need to go to the doctor and have a clean catch done. There are over the counter meds that will treat the symptoms however the drugs will turn the urine bright orange and can interfere in the urinalysis. Does she have frequent urination? Burning?

Go to the doctor. They can write a script that will kill the infection faster and better than anything over the counter. Continue to drink plenty of water to keep the system cleaned out. Stay away from sugary drinks. If you must get cranberry juice - find sugar free. Also, take cranberry pills on a daily basis for kidney support.

My wife has had UTI several times. Some people are just prone to get it. The doctor has always prescribed antibiotics, and advised to drink plenty of water. In other words glasses and glasses every day. Make sure you find out quickly if it is UTI, as it can really cause major complications in the kidneys. I'm talking hospital treatment!
