Does my cat have serious kidney disease?Hi,
my cat is only one year old. But two days ago, the blood test result shows that his creatinine level is 2.4.
In the test conducted last feb, his creatinine level was 2.1. The level has increased by 0.3.
My vet worried about kindney failure but didn't explain it fully to me about the kidney disease.
He prescripted some medicine for one week and asked me to back a week later.
Is the number 2.4 serious enough to kill my cat? Should I be worried a lot?
Please can someone tell me how I take care of my cat? Should I give my cat canned food every meal time?
I will be greatly appreciated for any answers.
Thanks.

You'll need to learn everything that you can about kidney disease in cats. Here is a great wiki page on feline kidney disease: http://pethealth.petwellbeing.com/wiki/Cat_Kidney_Disease
The number doesn't seem to be too high. But the medication that is prescribed may have long term negative effects. Look into a natural treatment product called Feline Tripsy. Its sold by a natural pet health company online and is made with herbs that are proven to treat kidney disease and kidney issues in cats. Its also gently for long-term use. Here's the link to it: http://www.petwellbeing.com/products/cat-kidney-disease

Kidney disease can kill your cat, but there are things you can do to help manage it. Your cat's creatinine level is pretty high. Stay in touch with your vet, ask all the questions you need to, and when you take your cat back in the vet will tell you what you can do to help your cat. If you're asking if your cat can die suddenly, probably not. My cat had chronic renal failure, and it was a slow process. Some cat live quite a long time with kidney disease. It just depends on how far along it is. There are special diets and medicines that can be given, as well as Sub-Q fluids. Try not to worry too much until you've given all the medicine and taken your cat back to the vet. Don't lose hope.
