can somsone describe the difference between left heart failure and right heart failure?in etiology, pathogenesis and symptoms. And what are the two ways in which right heart failure can occur, and what are the complications of heart failure?

Heart Failure is basically the heart's inability to function as an effective and efficient pump. The etiology or pathogenesis stems from actual damage to the heart tissue. Damage can occur from myocardial infarctions (heart attacks), stenosis from any of the valves (mitral, aortic, pulmonic, tricuspid), pulmonary hypertension, or disease process such as pericarditis. Complications from heart failure includes a decreased ejection fraction, increased fatigue, general weakness, shortness of breath, dyspnea on exertion, pulmonary edema, and pitting edema to the lower extremities. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

Left side heart failure due to hypertension anemia or hyperthyroidism, aorta insufficiency, congenital heart defects, cardiomypathy and arrhymias. In all these conditions the left side of the heart must work harder to pump the blood, with this extra load, the heart compensates by increasing in size of the left sideof the heart or increased heart rate The heart fails to emtpy before next load of blood. May cause shortness of breath and fluids in the lungs. Right side heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension resistance of the blood to the lungs. Also from left sided heart failure. With Right sided heart failure there is back pressure in the blood circulation from the heart into the venous system causing distended neck veins enlarged liver and fluids it the tissues. Diuretics, vasodilator drugs,anti- hypertensive drugs low sodium diet. CHF is treatable.
