Acute Renal Failure....?my boyfriend just texted me telling me that his kidneys were acting up and i've been scared that something like this would happen for weeks ever since he asked me to look up kidney failure symptoms and he said it may be acute renal failure... i just need to know one thing... has anyone died from acute renal failure? or not?

Acute renal failure can be treated with dialysis, if necessary.
Left untreated, yes, kidney failure would lead to death. But it sounds like he is seeking medical attention. There is no reason to believe he would die from this.
Since you said this is acute renal failure, and not chronic, this may be temporary. Here is info from the National Kidney Foundation:
"Is kidney failure permanent?
Not always. Some kinds of acute kidney failure get better after treatment. In some cases of acute kidney failure, dialysis may only be needed for a short time until the kidneys get better."
"In chronic or end stage kidney failure, your kidneys do not get better and you will need dialysis for the rest of your life. If your doctor says you are a candidate, you may choose to be placed on a waiting list for a new kidney."
I have also put a link to more info about it below
(I've had chronic kidney failure, been on dialysis, and received a transplant)
