What's the first thing doctors do when a child is diagnosed with chronic kidney disease? And what happens next. Like when you first go in what do they do?
What do they tell you?
WHAT HAPPENS?

CKD in a kid? Well, I'm going to assume that the same policies are used as with an adult. Lab work-ups, medical consult with a Nephrologist, possible hospital admission. All things considered, not a lot to stress over. Be mellow, otherwise your kid may pick up on your stress.
Good Luck!,

I'd say Trank is correct.
The child would be monitored for kidney function on a regular basis. This involves tests such as 24 hour urine collections and blood tests for creatinine. I had chronic kidney failure for 15 years before I needed dialysis. I was a good patient, didn't skip appts, and tried to do what the doctor said.
At some point, the child will probably need dialysis or a transplant.
You can learn a lot at this website, and also look for the message boards there too.
