My cat died more than a year ago from Acute Kidney failure. Can her ashes be tested for food contaminants?I have multiple cats in my household and have been feeding them Nutro Max dry cat food for a long time. This particular cat and one other were the only ones who liked wet cat food and I had been given samples of the wet Nutro Max adult cat food packets about two weeks before they became sick. The vet was at a loss for the reason why these two cats both became sick at the same time with acute kidney failure as all my cats are indoor cats and are not exposed to any chemicals or toxic plants. One cat survived with reduced kidney function for another year - I had to put the other one to sleep which was heart breaking. In my heart I always suspected that the food was the cause of all of this. I have her ashes and wanted to know if there was some group, company or organization that could test her ashes for the pet food contaminates.

no the kidney tissue was destroyed by the cremation. Besides to test that would be astronomically expensive, and the problem wasnt a year ago, its now. I doubt your cat died of the food problems. Only a small percentage of animals were affected by this problem.

I don't think they can be tested after cremation for what they think is poisioning or killing pets, but check with your vet too. It is not uncommon for cats to have kidney problems, especially males tho !!! Am sorry for your losses & ills, chances are with so many sick & dieing it may've been the food... there are sites about which foods, there's many & am unsure if much can be done, it's sooo wide spread !!!

ashes cannot be tested, this is why women cremate their husbands after they poison them. LOL
seriously tho, if they've been cremated they can't be tested, even the bone frags wouldn't be enough to find what you're looking for, and I dunno that any lab would do that for an animal...
