High blood pressure makes the kidneys work harder. Working harder wears them out faster, so the filters that still work have to work more, and then they wear out faster still.

There is probably more. BP is made higher by too much water in the blood stream. One of the things that dialysis does is take the water out. That lowers the blood pressure.

If the blood supply to the Kidneys is impaired will cause fluids to built up in the tissues of the body. Kidneys help regulates the blood and the electrolytes. I have heart failure the the blood flow is slowed through my kidneys.

It is usually the OTHER way around.

Adipose tissue deep in the abdomen presses on the kidneys , squeezes them and makes your blood pressure become elevated. Damaged kidneys from drugs can do this too.
You need healthy kidneys for healthy blood pressure.

Also, if you have elevated blood pressure for OTHER reasons than the kidneys themselves it can damage your kidneys amoung other things.

So please tell your friend get blood work done. Second if he has excess fat , lose the abdominal fat through creating a calorie deficit.
