Ultrasound examination performed by Professor Luiz Antonio Bailao depicts a case of intrautrine fetal multicystic dysplastic kidney (Potter Type II). The unilateral pathological condition of the fetal kidney was due to an obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction. This condition needs to be differentiated from polycystic renal disease and hydronephrosis. The polycystic renal disease is generally bilateral, and presents tiny cysts in the majority of the cases. Under sonographic examnination, the kidneys are depicted as voluminous and echogenic structures. In hydronephrosis, no cysts are seen, but enlarged pelvis and calices. The cysts that have been registered in this film show many different diameters, and an irregular distribution. Her diagnosis includes: -Bilateral coloboma choanal stenosis (narrowing of nasal passage) heart problems (VSD and PDA), -Renal issues- multicystic non functioning left kidney and grade 4 reflux in the left, -GI reflux, -Growth retardation, -Failure to thrive, -Microcephaly, -Cleft palate, -Suck swallow dysfunction, -Laryngomalacia, -Narrow airway She has undergone the following Procedures: -PDA ligation to close a large opening in between the lungs and heart -Laser surgery on her airway -G-tube placement to get her nutrition -Fundoplication- (took the top part of her stomach and wrapped around the bottom of esophogus to prevent reflux and spitting cause it was causing her to quit breathing) She will soon need open uteral reimplantation (Kidney surgery). Zeta visits Augusta, GA for doctor's visits 3-5 times every week. She sees 10 of her 14 doctors frequently. She is starting at home nursing soon.
