You probably shouldn't.

As a surgeon, I will say that in moderation, it shouldn't harm you. Alcohol isn't always bad for the kidneys, but it can raise blood pressure which can damage them so I would limit both alcohol and soda intake (especially soda because it is so high in calories). Before you drink alcohol, you need to be certain that it won't have any kind of negative interactions with any medicines you're taking because that can be very, very dangerous. I also don't ever recommend smoking cigarettes, but I'm sure you have enough common sense to know why. I'm one of the few people in the medical field who doesn't really oppose marijuana, though.

My strongest suggestion would be that you steer clear of any sugar-based (alcohol/refined carbs/refined sugars -- yes, alcohol takes on a sugar action in your body) to the best of your ability -- preferably for good. It's tough enough on your liver to filter out the gamut of toxins your body manages to take in from our polluted planet to our polluted array of food choices in our painfully commercialized (and packaged) society.
One thought to keep in mind when ensuring the health of your existence is to keep as close to the crop and livestock as possible. This means eliminating the use of all packaged and bottled everything except for dairy/meat. This cannot be helped as it is virtually impossible to store a dairy/meat farm in your home and in your refrigerator, no less. Obviously, these items must be packaged.
Meat is another that must come packaged, but is of better quality when purchased from co-op's grocers that furnish the pasture-fed variety. Dairy included. Pasteurized ANYTHING is bad for your health. So are pesticide-laden meats and veggies/fruits.
Keep as close to the crop/livestock as possible also means no canned goods. Canned anything contains lead. Some contain mercury such as canned tuna products.
Drink plenty of water, not so much that it drains all of your nutrients as foods contain water in varying degrees. In a nutshell, use common sense. Steer clear of diuretics such as coffee, tea, beer, etc, etc, etc....you get the idea.
Your kidneys AND your over-worked liver, via your unwavering patience and effort, will thank you for this fresh-adopted lifestyle later. I have much faith in you :)
Good luck!
